Campfire Ban Notice Lifted – Effective September 3
Due to a decrease in fire risk, campfires and cooking fires are once again permitted within the Coastal Fire Centre which includes the Qualicum Beach Fire Protection area, effective noon on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The lifting of the ban has been implemented by the Qualicum Beach Fire Chief in conjunction with the BC Wildfire Service lifting of the campfire ban for the Coastal Fire Centre area.
BC Wildfire Service has indicated current and forecast conditions have shifted, bringing cooler temperatures, improved humidity values and an overall reduction in wildfire hazard throughout the Coastal Fire Centre.
Fires in outdoor fireplaces are now permitted in accordance with the Town’s Bylaw 715 and as outlined in the Town’s Outdoor Burning FAQ. Beach fires are not permitted at any time in the Qualicum Beach Wildlife Management Area.
