RESPONDING TO CALLS
Qualicum Beach Fire Rescue responds to over 300 calls per year. We respond to more than just house fires. Our dedicated team is trained to respond to a myriad of emergency incidents. We are a Full-Service Operations fire department with a long-standing tradition of providing efficient and effective essential services.
FIRE
We are trained to respond to all fires in the Qualicum Beach Fire Protection Area. If you live outside of a hydrant-supplied area, we are an accredited Superior Tender Shuttle service. This means that we can supply enough water with our tender trucks to mimic a hydrant-supplied water source during a fire.
- Structure fires
- Electrical fires
- Vehicle fires
- Wildfires
MOTOR VEHICLE INCIDENTS
As a department that provides fire and rescue services, we respond to motor vehicle incidents and are able to provide rescue and medical services to patients on scene.
- Collisions
- Extrication
MEDICAL CALLS
As a fire department, we assist British Columbia Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) with emergency medical care when needed.
ALARMS
We respond to reports of fire alarms when they are called in by alarm monitoring companies or people on scene.
If you hear a fire alarm going off in a building, call 911 and tell the operator the address. The building may have a local alarm that is not monitored – which means we will not automatically get called out.
TECHNICAL RESCUE
We have a team of certified rope rescue technicians who are able to respond to technical scenarios requiring special access considerations.
- High-angle rescues
- Low slope scenarios
- Confined space incidents
